In each of Minnesota's 87 counties, a county attorney is elected to handle numerous criminal and civil legal responsibilities. Chisago County Attorney’s Office employs seven assistants - five in the criminal division and two in the civil division - who assist in carrying out those duties. The CountyAttorney establishes priorities and policies for staff, and performs many administrative tasks to ensure the duties and responsibilities of the office are properly completed. The Chisago County Attorney’s Office prosecutes all crimes committed in the county, ranging from serious felonies to traffic citations and zoning violations. In the civil area, the CountyAttorney’s Office provides legal advice and services to the other county departments and serves as legal counsel for the CountyBoard.
