Election Judge Info

Election Judge Eligibility

  • You must be an eligible voter in Minnesota
  • You must be at least 18 years old on Election Day
  • You must be able to read, write and speak English
  • You CANNOT temporarily or permanently live in the same house as a candidate where that candidate is on the ballot in that precinct
  • You CANNOT be a relative of any Election Judge serving in the same precinct.  You may however work separate, non-overlapping shifts in the same precinct
  • You CANNOT be a candidate or the relative of any candidate on the ballot in that precinct

A Relative is defined as a Spouse, Parent, Step-Parent, Child, Stepchild, Brother, Step-brother, Sister or Step-Sister

Becoming an Election Judge

All Election Judges must complete a certification training session every 2 years.  Once certified an Election Judge may serve on Primary Election Day, General Election Day and any special elections.

2016 Election Judge Training

If you have signed up to be an Election Judge you are now required to be certified.  We are limiting the number of live training sessions and offering an online option this year.  The online training takes the same amount of time (approx 2 hours) as the live session but done at your convenience.

You must register for training by either calling the Auditor's Office at 651-213-8500 or by completing the registration form and returning it by fax 651-213-8510 or email at auditor@chisagocounty.us

If you choose to register for the online training a link will be emailed to you once the registration is complete.
