Extension Committee

The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks two applicants for appointment to the vacancies on the Chisago County Extension Committee. The Extension Committee needs applicants from District #3 and an applicant to fill an At-Large Appointment.  The Extension Committee has three major areas of responsibility, as defined by the state statute:

1.
Program Development and Evaluation.  The committee develops an annual program of work in cooperation with the U of MN Extension Service. Assist in identifying county needs and matching or empowering county or regional staff in meeting those needs through education programming.

2.
Personnel.  The committee members often service on the search and interview committees to recommend suitable, qualified persons for Extension educator positions to the Extension dean and director of Extension. By state statute, Extension educators are U of MN employees. The committee also provides yearly input to the Extension Director or supervisor regarding Extension educator performance in development and delivery of the identified programs.

3. Budget development. The committee, working with Extension, prepares an annual budget of funds needed for the maintenance, support, and expenses of the county's Extension work and submits it to the County Board for approval.

Board members are appointed for a three year term. The meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday every other month 7:00 p.m. at the Extension Office in North Branch located at: 38814 3rd Avenue, North Branch, MN 55056.  Interested citizens must submit an

Planning Commission


The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks one (1) applicant for appointment to a vacancy on the Chisago County Planning Commission. The position is an at-large appointment. The Planning Commission is to promote the proper planning and development of Chisago County. The Planning Commission is established pursuant to MN Stat. 394 and has the following duties and responsibilities:

This Board shall have the following powers with respect to the Chisago County Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance:
  1. To adopt rules for the transaction of its business and shall keep public record of its transactions, findings, and recommendation.
  2. To cooperate with the Zoning Administrator and other employees of the County in preparing and recommending to the Board for adoption, comprehensive plans and recommendations for plan execution in the form of official controls and other measures, and amendments thereto.
  3. To provide assistance to the County Board and Zoning Administrator in the administration of the zoning and subdivision ordinances and shall review, hold public hearings and make recommendation to the County Board.
  4. Such other duties as the County Board may request or prescribe.

Water Plan Policy Team


The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks four (4) applicants for appointment to vacancies on the Chisago County Water Plan Policy Team. The positions are at large appointments
The purpose of the Chisago County Water Plan Policy Team is to advise the County's Local Water Resource Manager on implementation of the goals, objectives and action items contained in the County Water Plan.  They oversee funding decisions to accomplish projects that protect the water quality of the county. They also actively participate in projects undertaken through the Water Plan, such as the 5 year update, well water testing events and the Chisago County Children's Water Festival.

The members are appointed to 3 year terms by the County Board of Commissioners. The meetings are held 3:30 p.m. at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility in North Branch the 2nd Tuesday in the following months; January, March, May, July, September, and November.  Interested citizens must submit an
